Providing satisfactory municipal recreation facilities can be a challenge for many communities in Ontario. The present day inventory has outlived its current life expectancy, are energy inefficient, costly to operate, and do not meet current need. Facility users demand and expect new facilities with affordable user fees while non users do not want higher property taxes to build them. Hence, this creates an overall limited funding situation for capital replacement. Further added, when committing to move forward on a new project, the following concerns must be addressed:
- Do we really need a new recreation facility?
- What type of facility will meet current and future needs?
- How much are we going to spend, and can we afford the long term operating costs?
- Where is it going to be located?
- How and who is going to deliver this project?
- How are we going get the best value for our dollar?
In addition to addressing the above concerns, this course will be of interest to any employee or community leader that will be involved in the development of a municipal recreation facility infrastructure project. The focus of this program will be on industry best practices for recreation facility development and long term financial sustainability.

- Tools and tips to successfully manage and administer a municipal recreation facility project from conception to grand opening.
